Harnessing the skills of the tech community to create impact

Get help for your organisation

All across the country, thousands of third sector organisations work every day to support people cope with a wide variety of challenges. If you work in one of these organisations, your time and your resources are precious - maybe your organisation is facing higher levels of demand as a result of the economic situation, maybe you are having to operate in a new way, or maybe you are trying to capture or share information more effectively. If you don’t already have experience of doing this or don’t have the capacity in-house to deliver it, that is exactly where we can help.

You don’t need to worry about how it will be done - you just have to be able to describe the problem you are facing and the Scottish Tech Army will take responsibility for assessing the technical feasibility and the level of effort to deliver it. If we think we can help, we will match you with volunteers to work with you on the solution.

Our aim is to keep both the process and the solutions tightly focussed so that they can be delivered quickly - we know that speed is of the essence.

We have worked with a wide range of organisations already - watch some of our case studies here.

Volunteer your time and skills

If you work in the tech sector and would like use your skills to help support organisations dealing with some of the most pressing issues facing individuals and society, volunteering your time and talents is a great way to do that. The Scottish Tech Army is a way to do that in an environment that offers a range of different projects and a track record of effective delivery. If this appeals to you, we want to hear from you.

Working on a Scottish Tech Army project will give you the opportunity to support the digital development of third sector organisations and to help people working in the sector solve problems they face on a daily basis and maximise the impact of the work that they do..

You need to be able to commit your time and talents on a voluntary basis. We work around your availability as you are giving your time for free. Volunteering doesn’t commit you to a specific amount of time or project - we’ll match your skills with one of the projects that are open and if you want to participate we’ll connect you up with the others that will be working on it.

As well as supporting the organisations and individuals in need, it is a highly rewarding experience for our volunteers - hear more from some of them here
